The Impacts of Pornography on Brain, Youth, Society & Religion

The Silent Grasp of Pornography: A Deep Analysis in the Light of Science, Society, and Religion

In today’s digital age, just as the entire world has come to our fingertips, so too have destructive elements entered our lives that are silently wiping out a whole generation. The most terrifying among these is obscene content, or pornography. Despite its severe, detrimental impacts on society, health, and human psychology, why can’t it be completely banned? Why is its spread being justified under the guise of “free speech” or “art”? Let us deeply analyze this issue from the perspectives of science, logic, real-world facts, and religion.

Legal Loopholes and Strategies to Evade Responsibility

It is a proven fact that the promotion of obscene content increases severe crimes in society (such as rape and violence against women). When strict legal action is taken against instigating ordinary crimes, how are these types of websites still surviving?

The main reason is the strategy of evading responsibility. Most websites escape legal liability simply by displaying an ‘Age Disclaimer’ (e.g., “Are you over 18?”) or a ‘Click to verify’ button. This is not a solution; it is merely dodging responsibility. Until these sites are completely blocked at the global server and ISP (Internet Service Provider) levels, it is impossible to cut this problem off at the root. Once people are exposed to obscenity, it becomes extremely difficult to ignore—something only about 5% to 6% of young boys are able to manage.

Furthermore, there are videos on porn websites where 12 or 14-year-old underage girls are brutally abused, yet these corporations do not block them—or perhaps they block only a few just to evade liability. What will those who call this “free speech” or “art” say to this?

The Algorithmic Trap: The Fall from 1% to 100%

Today, a youth or teenager might not intentionally visit a malicious site right away. Instead, they are systematically compelled to view obscenity bit by bit.

  • Phase One (The Hook): A student might be watching educational videos on YouTube or social media. Suddenly, a suggestive ad or short video pops up in their feed.

  • Phase Two (The Slippery Slope): Driven by natural human curiosity and a rush of dopamine, they click on that video. The algorithm then identifies their weakness and continuously feeds them similar content.

  • Phase Three (The Trap): While chasing this 1% or 2% thrill, they eventually land directly on mainstream porn websites. This is no accident; it is a highly calculated move within the billion-dollar tech companies’ “Attention Economy”—the business of hijacking and holding your focus.

In the Light of Science: The Destructive Impact on the Brain (Deep Science)

Medical science and neuroscience compare pornography to hard drugs like cocaine or heroin.

  • Destruction of Dopamine Receptors: When our brain receives pleasure or a reward, it releases a hormone called ‘dopamine’. Watching obscene content triggers an abnormal, massive release of dopamine. Regular exposure numbs the brain’s dopamine receptors (Tolerance). As a result, users no longer find joy in normal life, studies, or healthy relationships.

  • Shrinkage of the Prefrontal Cortex: The part of the brain responsible for judging right from wrong and controlling emotions (the Prefrontal Cortex) physically shrinks due to excessive pornography addiction. Consequently, individuals lose their self-control, leading to an increase in perverse crimes in society.

  • Real-Life Impact: This addiction results in Erectile Dysfunction (ED), severe depression, social anxiety, and a deeply disrespectful attitude toward women.

The Silent Bleeding of the Youth: Real Statistics and Parenting

Although official data often underreports addiction rates, the reality is terrifying. The exposure rate among 15 to 20-year-olds is staggeringly close to 95%–99%.

A major reason for this is the digital illiteracy of parents. Many parents do not know how to enable ‘SafeSearch‘ on browsers, how to block adult sites on home routers, or how to use tools like ‘Google Family Link‘ to keep their child’s internet activity safe. The businessmen of the dark web are actively exploiting this technological ignorance.

The Dirty Motive Behind the Facade of “Art” or “Free Speech”

Currently, this heinous act is being branded and promoted as the ‘adult industry’ or ‘art’. Attempts are being made to legitimize it in the name of so-called free speech. However, under the guise of giving women absolute freedom and free speech, they are actually exploiting women for business and treating them as consumer products. One only needs to look at the Epstein Files to understand this; no further proof is necessary.

Islam: Women are Not Showroom Products, But Jewels in a Vault

Let us look toward the religion of peace. The respect Islam has granted women is not merely a slogan, but a reality.

Islam refers to women as ‘Mohsana’, meaning as secure and protected as a fortress.

  • As a Mother: Paradise lies at her feet.

  • As a Wife: She is a haven of peace for her husband.

  • As a Daughter: She is the key to entering Paradise.

Islam does not allow women to be reduced to commodities. It prevents women from becoming ‘public property’. Islam dictates that a woman’s honor does not lie in her external beauty, but in her Taqwa (Allah-consciousness) and personality. Islam ensures that no one views her merely as a ‘body’, but respects her fully as a ‘human being’.

What Does Islam Say About Women Staying at Home? A Brief Clarification

Many ask, “Does the veil (Parda/Hijab) hold women back?” Let me provide a simple example. Islam has not forbidden women from working; rather, it commands them to work with protection and dignity.

  • Medicine (Doctor): This is not merely a job for women; it can be a Fard al-Kifayah (communal obligation). For a female patient, a female doctor provides the most comfort and helps maintain modesty. Does wearing a Burqa hinder this work? The answer is no; in fact, a woman can serve humanity far better while maintaining the highest level of respect and protection.

  • Police or Military: If female police or security personnel are required for national needs or for frisking/searching women, this too is a highly respectable profession. The primary condition here is maintaining modesty in clothing and the workplace environment.

  • Sports and Commercialization (Sports as a Business):

    • Exercise vs. Exhibition: Physical fitness and exercise are essential for both men and women in Islam. However, the modern international sports industry relies heavily on ‘business’ and ‘showbiz’.

    • Modesty: In high-level sports, athletes are often required to wear clothing that contradicts Islamic modesty. Furthermore, presenting oneself before thousands of men in a stadium does not align with a woman’s dignity from an Islamic perspective.

  • Backward, Not Forward? Sacrificing one’s modesty or veil in the name of so-called modernity is not “moving forward.” Rather, removing oneself from exploitation and upholding one’s religious values and honor is the mark of true intelligence.

  • An Example: Smoking is typically associated with “bad boys” or those with a ‘low mentality’, yet many young men think it makes them look smart. However, a truly intelligent, smart, and gentlemanly boy does not think this way.

  • Another Simple Analogy: If you buy a diamond worth 1 crore rupees, would you leave it at a street corner, or would you carefully cover it and keep it safely locked inside a vault? Naturally, you would cover it and secure it. Why? Because it is incredibly valuable. On the other hand, people trample over pebbles by the roadside because they hold no value.

Islamic Perspective: Destruction of the Soul and Social Degradation

Islamic Sharia has treated this issue with the utmost importance and strictly warned about its harmful effects.

  • Zina of the Eyes: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “The Zina (adultery) of the eyes is looking (at forbidden things).” Pornography is fundamentally Zina of the eyes, which gradually drags a person toward ultimate Zina or adultery.

  • Destruction of Modesty (Haya): In Islam, modesty is considered a branch of faith. Obscene content completely eradicates Haya (a sense of shame) from the human mind. Once this is gone, committing sins in society becomes incredibly easy.

  • Family Unrest: It destroys the sacred relationship between a husband and wife. A distorted mentality leads to domestic unrest, divorce, and a rise in extramarital affairs. This is entirely contrary to the pure and healthy life that Islam advocates.

Conclusion: Where is the Solution?

To survive this terrifying invasion, simply looking to the government for help will not suffice. A combined resistance is required:

  1. Digital Literacy: Parents must immediately educate themselves about technology and actively use parental controls on their children’s devices.

  2. Mental Health Treatment: Those who are already addicted must be brought under medical and psychological treatment, rather than being treated as criminals.

  3. Religious and Moral Education: The cultivation of moral and religious values must be strengthened starting from within the family.

We must become aware before this silent epidemic fully breaches our homes, otherwise, the next generation will never forgive us.

If we take personal responsibility and simply stop consuming it, the industry will collapse. This is incredibly difficult to do, yet also remarkably simple. And it is the best path forward for everyone’s present and future.
